Redding Race looking good

Weather is looking good, like it's going to cooperate for the Redding "Cool April Nights" race April 21-22.

Race car is almost ready to go. Just have to retorque the heads and load everything up.

Hopefully the plan in place will slow the car down to the 6.60 pace. The blown gas tune up is a little more touchy when you try and slow it down. Who would have thunk it ????

Looking forward to seeing and racing with our old friends.

Hi Ron, we'll be leaving Thurs afternoon, I think Butch is ready to go now. Looks like the weather will be good and there will be real good air Our test went well, three passes all 6.30's looks like we'll need to throw out the anchor.
Where is a good area to set up our pit?

Hey Steve, hope things have been going good with you.

The last few years we always set up in the gravel were that water tank is. I think you guys set up there last race there. But that last race there was not enough room left for Curtis and myself to set up so we moved over to the west side of the track. Actually it worked out pretty good once we settled down to the idea. No mater were you set up Redding track is not real suitable for long low slung dragsters. And with Curtis's rig and mine we need space for two full set ups.

But anyway, I'll be taking a serious look at that west side again. I'll get there Thursday afternoon myself.

You guys bringing the cook ???

Ron, How did you survive that storm yesterday? I out ran it. We will be getting to Redding early on the 20th so we'll have time to look around.

Have you heard any rumors about us going to Medford in July?

We got about 3-4" of hail just west of me and a mud slide onto Hwy 99 closing the South bound lane for a little while. Lot's of lightning and thunder and rain but we had no damage. Sure scared my dog though .

Curtis is working on Medford, I'll let him update when there's info to share.

Butch wants to know if he can drop the car off at the track Thurs night. He said that he's leaving about 4pm, that would put him there about 8pm.

Have Butch call Curtis and he can work it out with the track manager. I should be there.

Steve, I'll be pulling out right at 9 AM in the morning and be there around 3:30-4 PM. Curtis won't be there until 10 PM or later.

Ron, I hope you didn't hurt your car to bad. Had a great time at Redding. We'll be getting ready for Sac.

Naw,....probably my own fault. I broke a roller lifter wheel end of last year. That lobe had a couple of small marks that I polished and thought it would be OK. I was wrong, evidently it caused the lobe material to flake and then went from bad to worse. The roller lifter wheel (they were brand new)looks like it was ground on a grinder.

New cam coming.

We did get the car slowed down finally to the 6.60 area. But it still runs out the back door, 214-215 mph.

Sure was tired after I got home Sunday night, but still having fun.
